Enno STAHL (Germany)

Enno Stahl (1962, Duisburg, Germany) Ц poet, performer, critic, publisher. Studied Philosophy, German and Italian Philology at the Universities of Aachen, Cologne, Florence, Siegen. In 1997 he received his doctorate degree. Since 1986 he has been the co-editor for the magazine УZeilenSprung,Ф and since 1988 Ц co-organiser (jointly with D. Pokoyski) of the publishing house УKrashФ that specialises in publishing catalogues, art-albums, literary collections. Among the numerous editions published by УKrashФ are the books by J. Luther, F. Willmann, I. Kilic, F. Widhalm, D. Pokoyski, E. Stahl and others. Stahl is the author of a number of books of poetry, prose, critics and publicism, including such as: Die Affenmaschine (Cologne: Krash, 1988), 2 Reisen. Nachts (Heidelberg: Cracked egg, 1989), Stete Geburten. Novelle (Vienna: Das Fröhliche Wohnzimmer, 1994), Piratebrut! (Cologne: Krash: 1994), Peewee Rocks (Cologne: Krash: 1997), (& noch) eine sizilianische Reise (Klagenfurt: Ritter Verlag, 2000). He is deeply involved in editing and compiling practices, research activities in literature. Among the published books and anthologies are the following ones: German TRASH (Berlin: Galrev, 1996), Anti-Art and abstraction in the literary modern. From Italian and Russian Futurism towards French Surrealism (Frankfurt et. al.: Verlag Peter Lang, 1997), Cologne Authors 1750-2000, Vol. 1: 1750-1900 (Cologne: Emons, 2000) and others. He is the author of numerous publications of experimental poetic character in various magazines, collections, literary miscellanies and anthologies, among them are such as: Slam! Poetry (Hamburg: Rowohlt, 1996), Trash-Piloten (Leipzig: Reclame, 1997), Manuskripte (#145, Graz, 1999), Poetry-Slam (#1-2, Asperg: Killroy Media, 1998-99), Kaltland Beat (Stuttgart: Ithaka Verlag, 1999) and many others. He is the organiser of a number of literary festivals, such as: German Championship of Literature: Poets In The Boxing Ring! (Cologne, 1993-95; Berlin, 1997), First Literary Fashion Show (Weimar Ц Cologne, 1995), in which German poets and literary men took part, among them were: B. Papenfuss, T. Kapielski, H. Hübisch, K. Flenter, H. Hass and others. In his work Stahl makes use of the experimental forms of poetic creative endeavour Ц ranging from visual and sound-poetry to live-action and installation actions. Among the poetТs collections of sound poetry are the following: Litter: A: TOUR (Cologne: Verlag IL, 1991), Deutschland konkret (Cologne: Krash, 1992), Wasserspräche (Cologne: Krash, 1993), Word Attack (jointly with H. Hübisch, H.S. Ziegler, Cologne: Krash, 1997), A Walk through sound garden (Cologne: Krash, 1998) and others. He conducted a number of solo and participated in more than fifty group exhibitions both in Germany and abroad, held numerous shows and performances in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Thailand, Japan and others, including such as: LAUT! Gedichte (Art Basel, Basel, 1990), Lau-au-au-gedichte (Art Nürnberg 6, Nürnberg, 1991), NOSW (Amalgam Festival, Cologne, 1996), Traffic Against (Performance Conference 5, Bangkok, 1997), Breath Attack (MMAC Festival, Tokyo, 1999), A Walk through Voice Garden (VII Symposium for electronic and electro-acoustic music, Barcelona, 1999). Enno Stahl lives and works in Cologne (Germany).
