Rosa GRAU (Spain)
Rosa Grau (1947, Barcelona, Spain) – poet, actress, scriptwriter. Studied Theatrical Art, Theatre History and Choreography at the Escola d’Actors (Barcelona), and also the Basic Professional Skills, Vocal and Phonetics at the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona). She started performing in the late 1970s. For several years she performed as a member of the theatrical group of the Actors’ School, showing performances of the domestic authors with support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture. The repertoire of the company comprised of lyrical and satirical performances, sketches and burlesques, and also literary-poetic programs, including the performances by R. Alberti “Poemas Escenicos” (premiere in the Theatre Miriam in Barcelona, was shown several times in various cities in Spain), by J. Teixidor “L’Auca del Senyor Llobet,” “Un Feretre per a l’Artur” and others. Since 1981 she has been collaborating as an actress and scriptwriter with various theatrical companies in Barcelona. For the theatrical group “Falabro” Grau wrote a play “Laia i el seu amic Arlès” (premiere in Fundació Cultural La Caixa), she performs with the group “Theatrical Gènesis,” in O. Dragun’s performances “The Slogan” (premiere in the Municipal Sports Center), “And said us that we were immortals” (premiere in the Recreational Cultural Center of Pineda) and others. In the midst 1980s, working for the theatrical company “The Camama,” she prepared a number of parts in such performances as: “The tragedy of the circus” (premiere in the Casal of Youths of San Andres), “Espriu...” (premiere in the Barcelona Art Civic Center) and others. In 1988 Grau founded a female theatrical group “Iguanas,” that focused on performing improvised sketch programs and live-performances. Among the organised projects are the following ones: “Tam-Tam Pax o la Jungla de Asfalto,” “Loca, loca, lo que?”, “Llum. Càmera. Acció,” “Reptilocabaret” and others, which were implemented on various stages in Barcelona, including such as Massana School of Fine Arts, Comic Saloon, The Association of Multimedia Performers, and also within several art exhibitions. In 1993 the group “Iguanas” was presented at the international theatrical festival in Avignon (France). In 1995 Grau in collaboration with X. Sabater created the experimental-poetic duet “Il.lògic Art Company” (sound and phonetic poetry, performance, etc.) that participated in various international festivals of contemporary literature and art both in Spain and abroad, including: 3er Festival de Polipoesia (Barcelona, 1996), Galleria de arte Vertice (Oviedo, 1996), 2° Encuentros de Performance (Pola de Lena Asturias, 1996), 4rt Festival de Polipoesia (Cascais, 1996), 1 Mostra de Performance Poetica del Maresme (Argentona, 1997), 5è Festival de Polipoesia (Barcelona, 1997). She is the author of a number of video-poetic productions and animation poems. Her phonetic poetry works have been produced in the CD-format: Agredolç (Barcelona, 2000). Rosa Grau lives and works in Barcelona (Spain).
