Since 1980 as a sound poet and performer Vitacchio has collaborated in the implementation of C. Bertolas original concept of Stage-poetry, that was widely presented by them in various perform-programs in Belgium, France, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. He is the editor and publisher (jointly with C. Bertola) of a series of sound poetry miscellanies Pate De Voix (since 1985), where he also acts as a technical director. Since 1992 Vitacchio has realised a conceptual project Trail, that implies tackling the environment by means of added to one another strips of fabric. The project is implemented in a number of works in progress actions Carnabane West and Cairn, comparing the categories of state and space (light and shade of ancient boulders, silence, echo and so on) and held in various mythologised places in England, Ireland and Wales. He conducted twelve solo exhibitions in Italy, since 1981 he has participated in numerous group exhibitions of visual and experimental poetry both in Italy and abroad. Among the exhibitions held in the 1990s are the following ones: International Visual Poetry (Berlin, 1990), Omaggio ad Adriano Spatola (Celle Ligure, 1990), Libri dArtista (Pavone, 1992), Think Europe (Berlin, 1992), 3rd Visual Poetry Exhibition (Melbourne, 1993), Contemporaneamente (Milan, 1995), Quinta Biennale di Poesia Visuale (Mexico City, 1996).
